Current & former NFL players react to Brees’ comments on national anthem protest

Ever since the May 25 murder of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the hands of four police officers, celebrities, athletes, coaches and organizations have been speaking out and supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

On Wednesday, Yahoo! Finance editor-at-large Daniel Roberts asked New Orleans Saints future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees a simple question: “what is your responsibility, as a leader, for the rest of the league and your teammates (if players start kneeling again this year)?

His answer, via a Zoom interview, can be seen in the tweet below:

Regarding these comments, one things is for sure … Drew’s current and former NFL colleagues did not necessarily agree with his thoughts on the issue. In fact, many have been speaking out against Drew’s message via Twitter tonight, including one of his own teammates Malcolm Jenkins:
