The shortened 2020 college baseball season didn’t stop Hayden Cantrelle from grabbing the attention of MLB scouts.
The University of Louisiana shortstop was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the fifth round (151st overall pick) of the 2020 MLB Draft Thursday night.
Cantrelle hit just .136 in his 17 starts as a junior this spring, but led the team with 10 runs, stole four bags and drew 12 walks. He slashed .309 with nine homers, 31 RBI and stole 28 bases as a sophomore in 2019.
He tallied a three-homer game and hit for the cycle in two separate games in 2019.
