It’s been a few years since the 44-year-old Lafayette native put on his cleats and football helmet, but Kevin Faulk’s time to shine has made its return.
After four successful seasons donning the purple and gold at Louisiana State University (1995-98), the First Team All-American running back went on to win three Super Bowl championships over his 13-year professional career with the New England Patriots.
Faulk, recently promoted to running backs coach at his Alma mater in February, was among the list of 78 players and seven coaches on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot released Tuesday by the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame.
The three-time First Team All-SEC selection accumulated a school-record 4,557 rushing yards and 46 rushing touchdowns over his four-year college career. He surpassed the 1,100-yard mark in three consecutive seasons.
His 50 total touchdowns is also a school record.
